Ingredients needed
Plantain stem –medium size -1
Tur dal –1/4 cup ( you can use even moong dal)
Turmeric powder – a pinch
Urad dal – 1 tbsp
Red chilles – 3
Coconut (grated)– 3 tbsp
Jeera /cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Oil -2 tsp
Salt as required
For the seasoning
Mustard – ¼ tsp
Urad dal – ¼ tsp
Curry leaves – little
Preparation
Remove the outer covering of the stem and cut it into rounds removing the thread like fibres with you index finger .Then chop it into small thin pieces. Keep it in diluted buttermilk to prevent discolouration.
Pressure cook tur dal with a pinch of turmeric powder till soft.
Fry urad dal and red chillies in a tsp of oil and grind it along with coconut and cumin seeds to a fine paste.
Method
Add the grounded paste, cooked tur dal and bring it to boil .
Garnish with coriander leaves.

This we call as pindimiriyam. Only difference is we add few black pepper.
