Serves 2-3
Ingredients needed
Bengal gram/Kadalai paruppu -1/2 cup
Grated coconut – 2 tbsp
Lemon juice – few drops
Oil – 1 tsp
For the seasoning
Mustard – 3/4 tsp
Hing – a pinch
Urad dal – 1/2 tsp
Green chilli – 1 small finely chopped
Red chilli – 1
Curry leaves – few
Preparation
Method
Heat a tsp of oil, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add hing, urad dal, green chilli, red chilli and curry leaves.
Then add the cooked kadalai paruppu/dal and mix it well.
Add grated coconut, mix and switch off the flame.
If you like sour taste, squeeze few drops of lemon juice for a different taste.

It sounds delicious. I have a quaestion many recipes call for urad dal for the seasoning...I have a package waiting to be used, but when you use 1/2 tsp in this way do you just take 1/2 teaspoon from the bag uncooked and toss it in with the seasoning? Thanks.

Thank you for visiting my blog .Yes,you have to take 1/2 tsp and use uncooked urad dal for the seasoning. You have to toss it till it change light brown.

Usually I prepare sundal only with whole moong dhal or channa but not with kadalai paruppu.. will give a try definetly..
