Recipe Source- mykitchenantics
Prep time – under 15 mins
Cook time -Nil
Yields – a 7 inch square pan
Ingredients needed
Tea biscuits / Marie biscuits- 30 biscuits or as required
Unsalted Butter- 100 gms (at room temperature)
Icing sugar- 1 cup
Cocoa powder- 3 tbsp
Milk – approx 1 1/2 tbsp-2 tbsp
Vanilla extract- 1/2 tsp
Coffee/ Espresso powder- 1 1/2 tsp
Water- 1 cup
Preparation
Prepare coffee decoction in 1 cup of boiling water. Filter it and leave it to cool.
Sift the cocoa powder and keep it aside.
Method
Add cocoa powder and continue beating until well mixed.
Note – The pudding will melt if kept outside for a long time. So keep it in the refrigerator and take it out only when required.
If you want it soft, keep it in the refrigerator to set. If you prefer it a little hard, keep it in the freezer compartment of the refrigerator. Both tasted great.

Can I add ghee instead of butter?
Butter is best for this recipe.
Hi, I found this recipe quite yum.. I have a friend who is not too fond of sweets but her husband is.. So to mellow down the sugar element, I mixed some toasted oats and desicated coconut into the choc mixture, and then with the layering, I added thin layers of (a mix of) roasted & crushed cashew & pistachios nuts. the sweetness was more balanced.. But thanks for the recipe Padhu.. loved it! 🙂
that's my mom used to make when I was a kid; one of the best cake you have shared 🙂 thanks for sharing 🙂
I m going to try this today itself
It came out ok … Thanks for the recipe 🙂
My choclate layer was a bit too thick so It was over sweet :))
I'm a sri Lankan I like to make this tomorrow….
One of my friend made it yesterday as per your recipe and truly it tasted yummy. But my only concern is, how can you call it a pudding? Isnt it more like a tart or pie, cause puddings are supposed to be semi solids.
Tried out today and came out so well. Just similar to your picture – there is no way we can go wrong
Just like the pudding my mom makes! Looks really good.
Quick n easy recipe… I tried n it came out well :)) thank you
Can I keep it outside to set PLEASE REPLY
You cannot keep it outside.
Where is the icing sugar used??
Read the first line under METHOD "In a bowl, beat together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. You can use a wooden spatula or an electric hand mixer." As I have already mentioned as icing sugar in the ingredients list, I have just mentioned as sugar (icing sugar) in the method.
Hi,can I use a blender to mix instead of the hand mixer or electric mixer?
Don't use blender, use an ordinary balloon whisk.
Awesome recipe. Simple but the frosting was just right. I just added a tablespoon of dark rum omitting the same of milk. Dunked the biscuits in milk, used chocolate ganache, nuts and chocolate shavings to top it up. This my signature dessert. Thanks for posting and bless you
Thanks for the recipe..I tried and it was yummy..my 2 yr old daughter loved it the most..I used malai that we remove from milk before making ghee.. And added 2 spoons of Amul cheese spread and a bit amul Butter and it was delicious 🙂
I just made the recepie and kept it in freezer I also added hyreshe's syrup i hope its good more over the batter wasn't enough for second layer..don't know why
