One day I had, just a packet of button mushrooms, onion and little cabbage in my pantry. I just combined mushrooms with cabbage and made this curry. Believe me, it was a big hit in my family. From that day onwards, this delicious mushroom cabbage curry has become a regular feature in my home. I purposely buy cabbage when I take a mushroom packet. Adding green onions makes it even more delicious. I have tried this curry with chestnut mushrooms and buttom mushrooms. Both work very well for this dish. Today we will learn how to make mushroom cabbage stir fry following this easy recipe with step wise pictures.

Ingredients needed
Button Mushrooms or Chestnut mushrooms-200 grams
Onion – 1 cup thinly sliced
Cabbage – 1 cup finely shredded
Spring Onion Greens – 1/3 cup chopped
Turmeric Powder -1/4 tsp
Chilli Powder -1 tsp
Salt needed
For the seasoning
Oil – 4 tsp
Cumin seeds -1 tsp
Preparation
Cut onions lengthwise. Shred cabbage finely. Wash and cut mushrooms into 2 or 3 pieces.
Method
Heat oil in a pan/kadai, add cumin seeds, when it sizzles, add onions and saute until it turns transparent.
Then add cabbage and cook covered on low flame for a few minutes. You can sprinkle water if required. Once cabbage is half cooked, add chilli powder, turmeric powder, mushrooms and salt needed.
Cook covered. Do not add water as the mushrooms will release water. Cook until the mushrooms are soft, stirring now and then.
Then add spring onion greens and cook for a few more minutes. Remove from heat and serve hot. (this curry taste good even without spring onions)
It goes very well with rice, chapati, paratha and bread. I love it with phulkas.
