Granola is so easy to make at home and also tastes awesome. It is much cheaper than store bought ones which are mostly high on sugar. I have used just rolled oats, nuts and dried fruits to make this granola. It is not only easy to make but you can also customize it by adding your favorite nuts, dried fruits or seeds. I love to have it as such or with greek yogurt topped with seasonal fruits. Today we will learn how to make granola at home following this very easy recipe with step wise pictures.

Ingredients needed
Old fashioned Oats/Rolled Oats- 1 1/4 cup
Almonds – 1/2 cup chopped
Pecans – 2 tbsp chopped
Extra virgin coconut oil – 2 tbsp
Salt – a pinch
Cinnamon powder – a pinch (optional)
Maple syrup – 2 1/2 tbsp
Vanilla extract – 3/4 tsp
Raisins – 1/4 cup
Dried Cranberries – 1/3 cup
Preparation
Chop almonds and pecans into 2 or 3 pieces.
Pre heat the oven at 180 degree C for 10 minutes.
Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
In a bowl, mix together rolled oats, almonds, pecans (or any nuts of your choice) maple syrup, coconut oil, salt, cinnamon powder and vanilla extract.
Method
Spread it on a parchment paper lined baking tray and bake in a pre-heat oven at 180 degrees C for 20-30 minutes. Give it a mix after the first 10 minutes of baking so that the oats does not get burnt.
Bake until the oats slightly browns. Allow it to cool. Then add chopped cranberries, raisins and mix well. Enjoy it as such or with milk or yogurt or ice cream.
Storage and Shelf Life
Store it in an air tight container. Stays fresh for 15-20 days at room temperature.
Note – You can double or triple the quantity. You should use only rolled oats or old fashioned oats for this recipe.
Substitutes – Melted butter for extra virgin coconut oil. Honey for maple syrup.

Neetha and Padma
I got Bob's Red Mill Old fashioned rolled oats. I got it from Canada. You can get it online in amazon. In India it is available in gourmet stores.
Hi can i use quaker oats ?
You can try with quick cooking oats. Quaker also has old fashioned oats.
Hi Padhu, I do not see any sugar added. Does maple sugar give the sweetness? Is this sweetness enuf when having it with plain milk? Please advice.
Great recipe!
Thanks,
Divya
Maple syrup, raisins, dried cranberries will give the needed sweetness. But if you want it more sweet, you can add it later when having it with milk.
