Ingredients needed
Sesame seeds-1 cup
Jaggery -1/2 cup
Ghee -1 tsp
Preparation
Dry roast sesame seeds in a pan over medium heat until the seeds pop up or sizzles. Stir continuously to roast evenly.
Melt jaggery in half cup of water and filter its impurities.
This plant is from my garden -Don’t they look beautiful near Sesame Seed Hearts.St.Valentine’s day is round the corner, so I have chosen that theme for presenting the dish)
Method
Boil the filtered jaggery with a tsp of ghee until it thickens and you get a soft ball consistency.
(If you drop a tsp of jaggery syrup in a cup of water, it should not dissolve but solidify immediately and you should be able to collect it and make a soft ball out of it). That is the right consistency.
At this stage, add the sesame seeds and mix well.
Then grease you hands with ghee and make balls out of it when still hot.(when your hands can bear the heat)
Note – If the mixture hardens, heat it again and make balls.
Store it in an air tight container and enjoy. It has a self life of 10-15 days if stored in an air tight container.

Hi padu I tried and I couldn't make balls.. What is the reason? Anything can I do to shape balls as soon as I not make balls…,
Padhu Sankar
Only if you switch off at the right stage, you will be able to make balls. If not either it will be too sticky or too dry. You can try reheating it if it has hardened.

Hi padhu, can i use Karupatti ??

Hi padhu, I tried groundnut laddu.it came out very well. I made (4)some laddus after that groundnut became hard.. Again I heated groundnuts jaggery stuff. Next I couldn't make laddus. This time I want to try different shapes like diamond, cup shape. To get diamond shape.. Can I apply butter or ghee or oil to plate? Can I trasfer the sesame jaggery stuff to plate? Is it possible to cut diamond shape immediately …please reply mam
Padhu Sankar
You must have heated it too much. That is why you were not able to make laddus again. Yes, you can grease a plate with ghee and transfer the sesame jaggery mix and make tikkis. But tikkis also you will not get if you have over cooked the jaggery syrup.
Ramya
Can I use oil instead of ghee? On a vegan diet currently.
PadhuSankar
Use coconut oil.
