Tomato soup is a soup prepared with tomatoes as the main ingredient. This rich and creamy restaurant style tomato soup is easy to make at home and tastes super delicious. It is also economical and free of any preservatives. This is my family’s favourite soup, so I prepare it frequently. I do not like buying ready made soup packets and always prefer to prepare it at home with fresh ingredients. This is very simple and easy to prepare and also a very common soup. I simply adore this soup for its flavor. A bowl of steaming hot homemade soup topped with cream is one of the most comforting food.

great receipe..easy preparation …thanks
Geeta Krishna
I really like your recipes and presentation ideas!
May I throw in a suggestion here? Instead of using flour to thicken the soup, you could add peeled and chopped carrots in the pressure cooker and blend them along with the tomatoes. That way, you not only get a deep rich colour, but your soup gets enriched with vitamins and fibre. The sweetness of the carrots complements the sourness of the tomatoes.
Pravena
Can you please let me know what kind of cream I can add ? Is there any brand that i can buy at the store ?

1.simple soup
2.in all your recipes tell the number of servings. As I am alone I would like to modify the ingredients to suit one serving.
3.instead of maida can I use corn flour
Padhu Sankar
Venkataraman –
Now a days, I am mentioning it in all my recipes, Sir. This was posted long time back.
This recipe serves 2 .You will get only 2 cups as shown in the picture above. So you can prepare the same measurement.
You can use cornflour (cornstarch in US) also instead of maida .

Hi padhu
tempting tomato soup, excellent presentation & yummy taste!! thanks dear!
Sheela Nair
thanks, made my cold disappear in seconds….
Deepthi Nag
Hai padhu,
I have been trying many of our receipes and it is coming out really well…but this tomato soup was bit sour and not as thick as they serve in hotel…i have added everything as per your instructions.
Padhu Sankar
Thank you for liking my recipes. Regarding your doubts – Soup might be sour because of the type of tomatoes used. You must use fully ripe, juicy tomatoes preferable Bangalore tomatoes. If you want a thick soup, dilute a tsp cornflour with little water, add to the soup and boil it.The soup will thicken. Since maida, cornflour is not good for health, I have added very less. If fact I skip that when preparing for kids.
Saraswathi Raghunathan
Hi Padhu. I like all your recipes. I checkout your posts first before
I try with any new recipes. Please let me know if I can use anything other than maida?
Padhu Sankar
Thank you so much Saraswathi. You can add wheat flour also.
