Ingredients needed
Kohlrabi/Noolkol – 4 small ones
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Salt needed
Coconut – 1/4 cup grated (fresh or frozen)
For the Seasoning
Oil – 2 tsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Urad dal – 1 tsp
Red Chilli – 1
Green Chilli – 1
Hing – a pinch
Curry leaves – a sprig
Preparation
Wash and peel the skin of kohlrabi. Grate it and keep it aside.
Method
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add urad dal, hing, red chilli, green chilli and curry leaves.
When urad dal turns golden brown, add the grated kohlrabi and turmeric powder.
Sprinkle water and cook covered stirring in between. Add salt to taste.
Once the vegetable becomes tender, add grated coconut, mix well and remove from heat.
Serve delicious kohlrabi stir fry/noolkol poriyal as an accompaniment for rice.
